Shopping List
The shopping list can be accessed by selecting "Show Shopping List" from the 'Shopping List' menu or by clicking the "Shopping List" toolbar item.
Adding to the Shopping List:
To add a recipe's ingredients to the shopping list, first select that recipe and then select "Add to Shopping List" from the 'File' menu, or press "Add to Shopping List" in the toolbar. Alternatively, you may drag the recipe name directly into the shopping list window if it is open.
To add your own ingredients to the shopping list, press the (+) button in the lower left hand corner. To remove an ingredient, select it and press the (-) button. All ingredients can be edited to change the name, unit or amount.
Exporting:
The shopping list can be easily exported to an iPod or HandyShopper. Select "Export to..." from the 'Shopping List' menu or simply press the corresponding toolbar item in the 'Shopping List' window and follow any prompts. We advise plugging in the iPod beforehand. To print the shopping list, press the "Print" button.
Cooking View
With the Cooking View, you are able to use use your laptop in the kitchen as a cooking aid. Select a recipe and then select "Cooking View" from the 'Window' menu or in the toolbar to bring up the recipe in full screen mode. To exit the cooking view, press the 'Esc' key or the "Close" button.
If you would like Connoisseur to read the steps out for you, select the "Speak steps" checkbox in the cooking view. To stop it talking, deselect the checkbox. Note: To change the spoken voice, open your 'System Preferences' and select the 'Speech' icon. Change your 'System Voice' to your preferred selection. Don't forget to play around with all the novelty voices, because there is nothing quite like a Pipe Organ telling you to "add 3 eggs".
Smart Groups
Smart groups are groups to which recipes are automatically assigned based on preset rules. To create a smart group, either choose "New Smart Group" from the 'File' menu or hold down the 'option' key and press the new group (+) button in the lower left hand corner of the main window.
To add rules, press the (+) button on the sheet. Likewise to remove rules, press the (-) button. For the smart group to work, you will need to have at least one rule. Once you have finished setting up your group, press the "Save" button. When the sheet has disappeared, enter a name for your smart group.
Smart groups can have inclusive or exclusive rules. For instance, you can create a smart rule that will only include recipes with no nuts by adding an exclusive ingredients rule based on nuts.
Conversion Calculator
The Conversion Calculator can be accessed in the 'Window' menu. To convert a unit select the current unit type in the top popup button and enter the amount. Then select the unit that you would like to convert to in the bottom popup button and the converted amount will be displayed.
